Notes on Joyful Path of Good Fortune: The Complete Buddhist Path to Enlightenment,   p. 278.

In Samsara no condition is certain. We don’t believe, deep down, that Samsara is impermanent. In Samsara, everything turns into its opposite, eventually. Our physical health is never stable. Wealth and possessions, power and beauty, are all unstable. Think of things as being borrowed. Soon they must be returned. Friendships are unstable. This is very hard to accept. Enjoy and love friends but don’t hang on to them.

“Even Buddhas can’t please everyone.”

Nothing stays the same, even for one instant. Every atom in the universe is in a constant state of change. Sometimes people are torn apart by their desirous attachment. Whatever arises, practice contentment. Remaining content is the best wealth.
