PERSONAL HISTORY: Mr. Bivona was raised in Bloomfield, New Jersey, completing high school education through the public school system. He completed his college studies at William Paterson College over a period of six years, majoring in English and writing. HIs mater’s studies were done at Rutgers University, Newark Division, in the area of English and American Literature, receiving his degree in 2003.

At home, he describes disturbed developmental years with a violent father who suffered from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder related to his experience in the military during the Vietnam years.

The Father would beat the individual’s Mother and became increasingly paranoid and substance abusing as the years went by.

Mother eventually divorced him and Father proceeded to stalk and threaten the family. The marriage dissolved when Mr. Bivona was ten years of age. Many years have gone by with very limited contact between the patient and his father, but, in all likelihood, the Father continues to do poorly, suffering from disabling mental illness.”

Dark echo cavernous with marbled stairs and door frames–ornate chandeliers and columns–I run my fingers tips along the brass railings as my footsteps echo down the flights–beneath stairwell ceiling murals.

The suited lawyers talk confidence with men in jeans and women in brown leather sandals. A boy cries. His mother soothes him. His father stares numb into the echoing fear.

Psych Evaluation–Excerpt: “Mr. Bivona is verbal, outgoing, and open in forms of interaction. He is lucid, alert, and fully oriented to person, place, and date. Memory function for immediate, recent, and remote recall is in tact and exact. Intelligence is assessed on clinical grounds to fall significant[ly] above the level of average.”
